Why we Gather underpins the Way we Gather

Wealth management is an industry laden with seminars, sales pitches and sterile networking events. We believe the overly-formal way that financial service companies communicate and engage with their clients and broader community is due for disruption.

We recently read The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker, which states:

When we don’t examine the deeper assumptions behind why we gather, we end up skipping too quickly to replicating old, stale formats of gathering and we forgo the possibility of creating something memorable, even transformative.

At Humanize Wealth, we’re putting more thought into why we gather, and letting that influence the way that we gather. At our company launch party back in June, we featured poets instead of powerpoints and highlighted artists over agendas. Our gatherings are designed to serve as a platform for dialogue, creativity and interactivity - not to sell you on a product or service. Though like any business we are happy to engage in an exploratory sales process when there’s shared alignment and interest.

Looking into 2024, we seek to humanize our industry events and community gatherings by getting to the heart of real issues, seeking to understand different needs and perspectives, and co-creating solutions. We also seek to be a bridge across communities of investors, artists, businesses, philanthropists, community development folks, public agencies and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of how the dominant economic system is failing us.

We’re also looking to humanize our meetings with clients by understanding each individual's unique story around wealth and its role in their life. We seek to help investors integrate their values across their entire financial picture - not just save a sliver for impact or philanthropy. Our approach is relational, not transactional. Collaborative, not prescriptive.

And even in the ESG and impact investing space, it can be hard to find events that truly inspire. We’re moving beyond the Do well by Doing Good dialogue to address the hard issues - like the role of the financial services industry in exacerbating climate change and inequality.

Our office space at the Labour Temple in Belltown allows us to meet with community members, clients and industry friends face to face. We hope to see you at one of our gatherings in 2024!
